‘UML for systems engineering – watching the wheels’ and 'SysML for systems engineering'

UML

Now in its second edition and fully updated to cover the latest version of the notation - UML 2.0 Includes chapters on ‘life cycle management’ and ‘architectures’. Published by the IET.

SysML

A new book giving a pragmatic introduction to SysML - the systems modelling language - written by Jon Holt and Simon Perry has just been published by the IET.

The engineering of systems, both large and small, is a complex undertaking. Decisions made at the beginning of a project whose consequences are not clearly understood can have enormous implications later in the life of a system. It is the task of the systems engineer to explore these issues and make critical decisions.

In order to do so, a systems engineer needs to follow recognised and established processes in order to ensure that systems are developed in a robust and controllable manner. Version 3.1 of the INCOSE Systems Engineering Handbook provides such a definition of key processes performed by systems engineers, and forms the basis for Brass Bullet Ltd’s introductory course on systems engineering.

All of Brass Bullet Ltd's course modules are mapped to the INCOSE Competency Framework, giving 'Awareness' level competency in the Systems Thinking, Holistic Life Cycle View and Systems Engineering Management themes. For information on which competencies each course module provides, please contact us. Together with our status as an Institution of Engineering and Technology Endorsed Training provider, this ensures that all of Brass Bullet Ltd's course modules address the competency and professional development needs of course attendees.

Full details of the systems engineering course is given in the Course Modules section on the left.
